At this event an interesting set of circumstances happened...

HOW DISNEY'S CARTOONIST BOUGHT WOSTOK'S "ILLEGAL EMIGRANTS"

As part of the program of the Munich Comics Festival 2011, I had my solo exhibition of comics, paintings and illustrations at the "Weltraum Gallery", a gallery that specializes in alternative and experimental visual styles. At the opening, with the projection of my video works went in the best order, I tried to answer anyone who is interested in any questions about the exhibition, my creative work or anything else ...At one point, an elderly man entered the gallery and looked at the exhibition, and then went to the counter where were copies of my fanzine "The Tick", looked at them for a while, and then picked up one and asked: "Who drew this!?“. I looked in his direction and saw that he was holding a copy of "The Tick" in which the first episode of the comic "Illegal Emigrants" translated into English was published. I tried to prevent some possibility that this grandpa was now giving me some moral and political sermons, so I diplomatically said: "I drew this comic with a friend of mine as a kind of a joke, without any major pretensions..." ""I really like this comic!" he replied, adding, laughing mischievously, "I worked as a cartoonist at Disney Studios for a long time, but we weren't allowed to draw Mickey Mouse like this!"

Then he bought that copy of "The Tick" and he asked me to make an inscription and I, of course, did so by writing the following: "To dear friend Wally from Wostok 25.6.2011. in Munich”.
